Television Interview with Rose-Marie Boylan BSc. M.A. Dietitian, Athlete, Sports Nutritionist, Department of Health Nova Scotia

This marked my debut on television as a dietetic intern and Sports Nutritionist. I've been an athlete since the age of 4, provincial soccer player and handball championships, eventually becoming a marathon runner and triathlete. Naturally, I have a passion for nutrition. I went into dietetics to perfect my knowledge of nutrition and because it was the perfect science degree for medicine.

Also I came from a family of chronic dieters, obsessed with their weight, but unwilling to exercise who constantly harassed me with envy about my weight because I was skinnier than them. Knowing that the family environment around nutrition was toxic, I naturally was inclined to go into nutrition to find a balance and teach this balance to others.

This television appearance was for the Department of Health, specifically the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture in Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, where my father originated. Given that Germans settled in this region, I chose to undertake my community project in media, where my father was from. Since then, I have continued working in television, video and training others in leadership and presence for public speaking.

You can see however in this video, I had no training or experience. I was shy, a little awkward, but with training and practice developed my confidence. This show was called "Nutrition Capers", it was produced many years ago. I also co-produced and hosted a television show in New Brunswick which I will share as well.

I will begin to upload most of my accomplishments and work including being a contender for Miss Teen Montreal.

My work as a Coach training others on public speaking, media & TV

I began training my son in television and public speaking when he was 7 years old, and he has since combined these skills with robotics and AI. He now earns his living in TV and video production, teaching AI and robotics.

This video was created several years ago, so the advice it contains might not be applicable to current sports nutrition and dietetics. It is best to get updated information as this information has not been updated with new guidelines. For accurate guidance, please visit the Canadian Dietetic Association's website or consult a certified dietitian, as there have been new scientific developments since this interview was conducted.
